Rick Goossen to Speak at Apologetics Canada Conference on Meaning, Purpose, and Calling

ELO Founder Dr. Rick Goossen will be speaking at the Apologetics Canada Conference in Burnaby, BC, on Saturday, January 31, addressing one of the most pressing questions of our time: the crisis of meaning in life and work.

Rick’s session, “What’s My Point? How to Address the Meaning Crisis in Life and Work,” challenges participants to wrestle with a deceptively simple question: What gives your life ultimate meaning or purpose? If you can’t articulate that clearly—Rick suggests in 50 words or less—it becomes challenging to live it convincingly or share it effectively with others.

Drawing on decades of research, teaching, and work with leaders across business, academia, and faith-based organizations, Rick will offer a practical framework for making sense of one’s lived experience. Rather than seeing skills, setbacks, successes, and seasons as disconnected or accidental, he invites participants to recognize the continuity running through their story—a purposeful thread shaped by God’s work over time.

This session reframes apologetics in a profoundly personal way: God at work in your life becomes your most compelling apologetic. Your story, rightly understood, carries clarity, coherence, and credibility in a world searching for meaning.

The Apologetics Canada Conference brings together thoughtful Christian voices to equip believers to engage culture with wisdom, conviction, and grace. These gatherings attract hundreds of attendees—sometimes as many as a thousand—creating a dynamic environment for learning, dialogue, and reflection. Rick’s contribution will resonate strongly with leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and anyone wrestling with questions of purpose, calling, and impact.
