Faith on Film: Christian Movies and Media Shine at ELO's Canadian Christian Business Conferences

Kyle Thompson, Founder of Catalyst Resource Group, in conversation with Rick Goossen during a Q&A session at the ELO Forum Winnipeg in October 2025.

The power of story is universal. And when that story carries a message of faith and redemption, its impact can be profound. That’s why this year’s ELO Forums are putting the spotlight on Christian movies and media, exploring how filmmakers and faith-driven entrepreneurs are transforming culture through creativity and a sense of calling.

From behind-the-scenes insights to exclusive film previews, attendees will gain a firsthand look at how faith-based media is shaping the future of storytelling — and how business leaders can be part of that movement.

Kyle Thompson: Faith, Film, and Impact

One of the highlights of this year’s ELO Forums is Kyle Thompson, Founder of Catalyst Resource Group (Tulsa, OK), who has built a career helping filmmakers bring stories of hope to the big screen.

Kyle recently presented at our ELO Forum Winnipeg (October 22), sharing his journey through the world of Christian media and the lessons he’s learned from marketing and producing some of the most successful faith-based films in history.

He will also be speaking at both ELO Forum Vancouver (November 5) and Toronto (November 19), where he’ll discuss the growing influence of Christian storytelling and how these films are connecting with audiences in record numbers.

A Legacy of Faith-Driven Storytelling

Kyle Thompson is an accomplished entrepreneur and servant-leader with over 30 years of experience in media, marketing, and production, with a focus on the faith-and-values film sector. After a decade in independent film marketing—beginning with The Passion of the Christ—he founded Catalyst Resource Group in 2014, now a leading agency serving faith-based audiences.

Kyle has led marketing for more than 60 theatrical and streaming releases, totalling over $1.5 billion in gross, including Jesus Revolution, I Can Only Imagine, Hacksaw Ridge, War Room, Heaven Is for Real, and Son of God. He also served as Senior Faith Advisor for Amazon Prime Video’s Wonder Project and continues on the Wonder Faith Council.

Under his leadership, Catalyst has launched ventures such as Catalyst Movies, Sermon.net, and Catalyst Missions Group, partnering with nonprofits like Compassion International and Focus on the Family, and with major studios including Lionsgate, Sony-Affirm, Warner Bros., and Disney/20th Century.

Earlier in his career, Kyle helped pioneer church licensing and outreach for Provident Films, spearheading campaigns that brought faith films to tens of thousands of congregations — including Fireproof, Facing the Giants, and The Passion of the Christ. Across decades, he has championed media innovation and strategic marketing to empower faith communities and amplify stories of hope worldwide.

Kyle's session at the ELO Forums in Vancouver and Toronto, “A Thirty-Year Insider’s Perspective on Christian Media, Movies & Impact,” will be an engaging Q&A, facilitated by Dr Richard (Rick) J. Goossen. We will integrate audience questions, a hallmark feature of ELO Forums.

An Exclusive Bonus for Forum Attendees

Faith in Action: How Businesses Can Get Involved

Just as your customers do, audiences “vote” with their dollars. That’s why we’re encouraging ELO member companies to consider hosting a company-wide movie night on the film’s opening weekend — February 20, 2026.

It’s a fun, faith-affirming way to strengthen culture, celebrate community, and share a powerful story together.
