About the Presenter

Dr. Hughes is currently the President of Mobility & Chief Innovation Officer at Affinity Risk Solutions. Previously, he was the Dean of the DeVoe School of Business & Technology at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). Dr. Hughes came to IWU from AAA Hoosier Motor Club where he has served as the Chief Innovation Officer and Senior Vice President of Automotive/Member Experience. Dr. Hughes holds a DBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and was a member of our first graduating class of DBA students. He holds a Master of Organizational Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University and a BS in Organizational Management from the University of Arizona Global. Dr. Hughes is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, where he has served churches in Texas, Kentucky, and Indiana. He currently serves the Indianapolis District of the Nazarene Church as a strategy consultant. Dr. Hughes and his wife Becky have two adult children and reside in Westfield, IN.

Title: Surfing the Waves of Change: Thoughts from a Man Who Can't Swim

AI is rapidly spreading throughout the business ecosystem with significant consequences for most industries. Many functions have never been easier, cheaper and quicker. The cliche is that future billionaires will be one-person organizations with founders working from their garage—few, if any, employees are needed. AI will displace some and empower others--which side of the equation will you and your organization end up on? Forget about change management models—we live in a world where change is constant more like a ocean waves --some are bigger and some are smaller. We need to learn to ride the wave without drowning. Dr. Hughes will discuss how to stop managing change but rather how we can learn how to surf the waves of change.
